In the search of a nice iPhone wallpaper I’ve always been frustrated by the fact that, while looking great, they were mostly designed neglecting the lock screen UI boundaries, and the main subjects ended up being covered by the time and unlock areas.

One day, after weeks sketching on a notepad simple minimalist objects with no specific purpose (and in portrait oriented rectangles!!) I realized the two things were matching and started designing the first one, Raindrop. It looked pretty nice so I tried to hard mix the use of realistic textures for the background with a minimal illustrated object in the foreground.

While feeling weird at first, the two styles blended together in the end and in the following days I went on trying with new objects and textures, evolving and experimenting a bit more with additional details in both the background and the shape in the foreground.

The idea of making a series of iPhone wallpapers was quite a no-brainer follow-up from there and… that’s pretty much how it started. It’s still the beginning of course, but I have a lot of sketches to work on and from, so this should keep me occupied for quite a while and hopefully you guys will use them on your iPhones and make me proud (both of you and myself)!
